SERIES IN PROGRESS
CLEARNESS. 2021 - 2023
Demons appear when we experience change. All changes are emotional. We are not limited to what we can do physically, but we may not have enough power to fuel the move mentally.
The hardest transitions and changes are those we are experiencing now.
A clear state of mind appears when we accept change, we face our demons, but we are ready to move on.
Change is always emotional which is why its story is told in vivid complimentary colours via two stages. When we begin to feel that something bothers us we start to battle our fears.
Change includes maturing, tension, and eruption. This sequence allows us as human beings to free the space for something new and unseen - the next step which follows.
Clarity appears in a moment when something changes inside us; we are freed from indistinctness or ambiguity.
We are ready to make a move and act differently.
WINDOW IN THE SKY. 2020 - 2021
Window in the Sky is a triptych dedicated to the colours of hope we all rely on during the hardest of times and transition from who we are to what we want to be. It is visualized through the times of the day: sunrise, day and night.
Early morning is a time of hope or disappointment.
We build plans if we have enough energy, and we wait for the worth when we are exhausted.
"Call me later" is the state of the day we got used to. We are keeping ourselves busy, stressed, and purposeful. We don't have enough time and energy to make a stop and ask ourselves "Am I truly happy right now?"
During our darkest hours we see only black and dark. We consider our internal night as a time when everything is dark, we feel down. A depressed state does not allow us physically to see the vivid and bright colors, it is like a constant grey mode we live in.
But there is no black and white, there are only layers and shades. When we start focusing on seeking the solution - clouds disperse. We start to see the windows of opportunities.
That's what Window in the Sky series is about - ability to see the way when we feel we have lost it all.
ORIGIN & DISTRACTION SERIES. 2021
Every territory has its own colours and shades. The island of Cyprus is about fire.
Cyprus was born in a fire of lava eruption 1,8 million years ago, and it still struggles with fire during the hot season. Lava origin has given prosperity to the island - since the dawn of history, Cyprus has been known as an island full of minerals: copper, chromite, and asbestos gave prosperity and wealth to the mine owners.
Origin and Distraction diptych consists of two artworks. It is devoted to the Arakapas fire in 2020, one of the biggest and most damaging disasters for dozens of years.
It is about the beauty which natural disasters bring to us. Endless shades of orange, red, yellow, reddish, sand, and burnt sienna. Each disaster is a tense point where we become so weak in facing adversity and so powerful in overcoming its consequences.
The second one is about lava traces on the island which have been bringing wealth to the people of the island since the beginning of time.
